Describe a Place in 150 words

After a long exhausting climb in the glorious sun, you come across a seat, and gratefully collapse into it. As you catch your breath you look around at the breathtaking views before you. You see the beautiful scenery that the region has to offer. The rolling hills all around reaching as far as the eye can see, the astonishing amount of green all around. The deep blue see stretching to the horizon and the line of trees that marks out the sea shore. You just sit there taking in the view, feeling happy to live somewhere with such a beautiful landscape. You stick around to watch the sunset, the sky turns a deep red and then goes black. You see the street lights come to life and the city comes alive with light. The airport runway lights up in colour and a orange glow fills your vision from all the street lights. The scene is just as beautiful as it was an hour or so before.

#secretproject Excerpt

“I wonder where all the birds are?” asked Ethan. It was at this moment that they suddenly realised that the forest around them was totally silent except for the wind… they were completely alone…
“Lets turn back” Ethan suggested, his voice shaking.
Chloe, the more adventurous of the pair said “We knew this would be scary and this is our only chance to see what is beyond the forest”.
Ethan grudgingly agreed and they carried on, a little more cautiously than before.

It didn’t take long before they started hearing footsteps in the distance and the ground beneath them began to shake.

Microsoft – friend, foe or other?

Other.

Both of my primary machines are currently running Windows 7 because im too lazy to get xdmx working, and I paid for MaxiVista.

However given the choice (and time!) I would be running linux for everything.

Also, Portal2 doesnt run on linux….. :)

Day 21 – Favourite thing & worst things about working in IT

My favourite thing about working in IT is all the cool toys and technology I get to play with on a daily basis. Theres nothing more exciting than a cool new piece of kit arriving.

However, the worst part about working in IT? The users! (sorry if any of *my* users read my blog…) I’d much rather be working on servers than helping out users….

Day 19 – Most hated computing environment.

I’m not really bothered about the environment I work in, as long as it gets the job done. I’m quite happy working with any OS or GUI/shell (as long as the proper documentation is available)

As for physical environment, I quite like working in the cool, dark server room – rather than my office, which can get rather warm.

Day 16 – First computer you’ve ever owned & your favourite ever.

I kinda answered that with my previous post. Commodore 64.

As for my most favourite computer ever, it would have to be my current Lenovo x300. Nice and powerful, in such a tiny shell!

~ In catchup mode, so these are short ~

Day 15 – Earliest geek experience

My first computer (that wasn’t a PC) was a Commodore 64 and I didn’t have a tape/floppy drive to start, so I would be found, on a lot of days, typing out BASIC application code from books!

~ I’m in catch up mode so these are short ~

I haven’t actually been to any computer conferences :(

This needs to be rectified!

Day 13 – How did you become such a geek? Career? Personal interest?

I really don’t know why I’m as much of a geek as I am. As soon as my parents bought home our first computer, it was all I spent my time on. (so much so that rules such as “only one hour of computer after tea” had to be implemented).

My career came out of my being a geek, rather than caused by it.

My geeky-ness seems to be moving away from “computers” however, to be more specific and focused on IT areas.
I’m also becoming something of a photography and language geek.
